Stories from the edge of everywhere
Films and Stuff is a documentary and journalism production company working in the online, television, and independent film spaces across the globe. Our home-base in Finland's northernmost region, Lapland, equips us with a unique, sharp, and quirky peripheral vision towards making films for an international audience.

OUR STORY

Films and Stuff was founded by Saila Huusko, to be the practical vessel for creative documentary filmmaking, meaningful storytelling, and professional journalism hailing from the north.
Saila got started as the as the in-house multimedia producer for CMI, a a conflict resolution organization founded by the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Martti Ahtisaari. Since then, she has produced and directed documentaries and shorter projects for outlets around the world, including for Al Jazeera English, the BBC, PBS, and NZZ, as well as created audiovisual materials and consulted on communications for NGOs such as WWF, Save the Children, and UNDP.
Saila holds an MSc from the Columbia Journalism School, and completed a masters in Conflict Resolution at the University of Queensland. She is an alumna of Middlebury College and UWC Mahindra College.
Films and Stuff is lucky to collaborate with many creative professionals from around the world, and always welcomes new connections, meaningful collaborations, and fresh story ideas.
